Recommendation for Presidential Unit Citation (retyped version)

Recommendation for Presidential Unit Citation

The army papers of Robert F. Burns included two documents related to the Battle of the Foret de Mont Castre, also known as Hill 122. This document is a typed carbon copy that was apparently submitted by Lt. Col. Christian Clarke in support of the recommendation for a Presidential Unit Citation for the 3rd Battalion, 358th Infantry for action at the Battle of the Foret de Mont Castre. The citation was awarded to the 3rd Battalion on February 24, 1945. During this period, Capt. Robert F. Burns was 3rd Battalion S-3 which probably explains why he was able to obtain these pages. This is also the Battle for which he received his Silver Star.
