Dear Mom,

This will be brief for I am in something of a hurry to get to supper before the subway mob forms. I lose three pounds in sweat from heat and pressure every time I take a ride around the time the work day ends. I didn't think you could get so many people in one place.

I've been chasing around all day with some other students trying to get some people back to Germany and down to Marseilles for some painting materials. For some reason, the Army doesn't seem to have much prepared for us and our school opening will be delayed perhaps for several days.

What I want are my oil painting brushes. They should all be there at home somewhere. They have long handles and fairly stiff bristles. Also put in a palette knife if you can find one, I had two there. Send the brushes first class mail and right away.

I may need some paint, too, but I am going to wait another day or two and see what they dig up first.

I'll write again tomorrow probably. Your letters make good time. I have one from Grace from the 7th Aug. and from Aunt Jen on the 8th.

Use my new address. I'm just using up an old envelope I had addressed.

Love,

Bob
