Le Havre, France

January 24, 1946

Dear Mom,

I may beat this home but I'll take the chance. We sail tomorrow. Or rather we get on the ship tomorrow. I don't know when it will leave the port. Certainly no later than Saturday.

We are going on the "Mont Clair" a victory ship. It holds about 1500.

I have a small group of 28 men and 5 other officers to take to Camp Grant. Yesterday and the day before I got stuck on a clothing inspection detail that kept me busy all day.

Last night we had a light snow but this morning the sun came out and quickly reduced it to mud.

This probably will be my last letter.

Love,

Bob
